Lab Homework 1 / Task B / 10 points

Installation recorded · first 3D game validated in A1.0

A short record of a smooth installation on Windows.

Objective#

The aim of this task was to prepare a Unity environment for the practical part of the Human–Computer Interaction course.

Installation process#

I installed Unity Hub and Unity Editor on my Windows computer. Unity Hub is the application used to manage Editor versions and projects; Unity Editor is the application used to create scenes and interactive experiences.

The installed versions recorded on this computer are Unity Hub 3.22.1 and Unity Editor 6000.6.4f1. The Hub is installed on the D: drive, while the Editor executable is present under the standard Unity Hub Editor directory on the C: drive.

Problems encountered#

The installation went smoothly, and I did not encounter a problem that required troubleshooting. There is therefore no error-and-fix sequence to report.

Version compatibility#

The older lab notes specify Unity 2021.3.16f1, but the newly supplied 3D Gaussian splatting in unity deck demonstrates 6000.0.23f1 on slide 12. My installed 6000.6.4f1 is also Unity 6. The older notes alone are therefore not a reason to downgrade for the 3DGS exercise. I still need to confirm the precise class project version and test it. Installation alone does not establish compatibility.

The week 2 journal records the 3DGS project and graphics requirements separately.

What has been checked#

A local system check found Windows installation records for both Hub and Editor and confirmed the Editor executable exists. This verifies the software installation, but it is not a test of a Unity project.

First-project verification · 4 October 2026#

The later Station Rescue A1.0 journal now documents a working 3D project using Unity 6000.6.4f1. A clean source checkout was imported and compiled successfully; its Editor regression passed 317 checks. The complete Windows game was also built and tested. That supplies the actual first-project evidence beyond this original installation record.

Reflection#

This setup separates two tasks: installing the software and confirming it is ready for the course. A useful installation record can explain the chosen tools, versions and checks even when no error occurs.

No installation screenshots are included in this draft. If images are added later, they should be actual screenshots of this computer, such as the installed Editor list and a successfully opened project.

Draft prepared with AI assistance from the student’s report that installation was smooth and a local installation check. The later A1.0 journal adds first-project execution evidence; the 3DGS exercise retains its own compatibility and data checks.
